An Introduction…

It is my privilege to have been chosen to serve as President of the Board of Pan-American Non-Profit Organization.
As a former teacher of 31 years, I am so pleased to see the plan of Pan-American Non-Profit Organization to help students get an education.  In this particular era, we are very aware of this need.
One of the wisest men who ever lived, King Solomon, states in his Proverbs “Wisdom is supreme; therefore, get wisdom.  Though it cost all you have, get understanding.”  He continues to say “Fools despise wisdom and discipline.”  How very true I find these Proverbs to be.
I am aware that some define wisdom as different from knowledge and I can agree with that to a point.  However, we would be amiss to think that a wise man would not see the advantages of knowledge.  In contrast, an education does not necessarily make a person wise. Therefore, it would seem wisdom and knowledge/education are intertwined.
Now, to the point, the Pan-American Non-Profit Organization has seen a need to educate young people who may not have opportunity or funds to proceed with their education.  We are excited to incorporate a program that will exchange students from other countries, give them opportunities to come to the United States and give them the education they so desire.  Students from the United States, in turn have the same opportunity to go to other countries.  These students will not only be educated with book knowledge, but other countries’ customs and lifestyles.  All of this progressing to a better relationship with other customs and peoples.  We believe when we understand people of other cultures and the way they live, we are more likely to live and work together in harmony.
John Bunyan, author of Pilgrim’s Progress, said, “You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who cannot pay you back.”  This is the intent of Pan-American Non-Profit Organization.
According to figures provided by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and reported in Southwest Airlines’ Spirit Magazine (Oct. 2005), it definitely pays for a young person to pursue an education.
A person with less than a ninth-grade education will make $976,350 in a lifetime, while a high school graduate will earn $1,455,253 in the same time span.  Add a college degree, and your earnings jump to $2,567,174.
We acknowledge quickly that education is not everything there is to life, but it must be admitted that it can have a major impact.
